Miss C Kearney

Teacher of English

My love for English stemmed from a love of reading from a young age. This passion for the subject was then nurtured by the amazing teachers I had in secondary school. When I was 16 I travelled to India to volunteer in orphanages and teach English to homeless children who had no access to mainstream education. This was when I realised I could combine my love of English with helping others through teaching. After doing some work experience in both a primary school and a secondary school I quickly learnt that the secondary school environment was the one for me. I chose English and Geography as my Undergraduate subjects and majored in English Literature and Language at the University of Limerick in the southwest of Ireland. During my time at university I also achieved my Teacher of English as a Foreign Language qualification.  Upon completion of my undergraduate degree I made the move across the water to Liverpool and continued my journey at Liverpool Hope University in English Secondary School Teaching. My decision to remain in the UK was made the moment I visited King's and saw the amazing work they were doing for our young people. I feel extremely privileged to be part of the team here at King's where everyone's goal is the same and the students are at the heart of everything we do.
