My name is Conor Nicholson and I am a member of the Humanities Department at King's Warrington, working as a Teacher of History. I have always had a deep interest in history, something I attribute to my Irish heritage. Growing up in Ireland, I was fascinated with the complexities of Irish history and politics. This interest soon grew into a passion, and I found my curiosity about the past taking me in many different directions. This encouraged me to study History and Politics at A-level, after which I completed a History and Politics Joint Honours Degree at Queen's University Belfast. My passion for my subject is equaled by a passion for helping young people, something I've been involved in for many years through football coaching. This drew me towards a career in education, and I took the first step towards this in 2020 when I began my PGCE in History at Liverpool Hope University. Following my degree and a few years of teaching in Liverpool, I am thrilled to now be a part of the team here at King's.
Outside of my subject and career, I love watching football and playing golf. Travelling and embracing different cultures and revelling in the history of different places is also a favourite past-time of mine. I love learning new things about the world around us, the past, and how it has shaped the present. As teachers, we too are lifelong learners: every day is a school day.
