Aiden Wright, Year 10 student at King’s Leadership Academy Warrington, was recently offered a coveted scholarship place with Wigan Warriors Rugby League Club.
This two-year scholarship position represents the first official step in his journey to becoming a professional player. Throughout the next two years, Aiden will train with the club’s under 16s squad with the aim of achieving a contract for their academy squad.
Wigan Warriors will focus on developing Aiden as a rugby player whilst working closely with King’s Warrington to ensure he continues to receive the highest standard of education.
Shane Eccles, Head of Youth at Wigan Warriors, states that the club looks for players who are “hardworking, dedicated, and humble.” Shane believes Aiden has demonstrated these traits, which is a “testament to the work the academy does to instil such characteristics."
Chloe Green, PE Teacher at King’s Leadership Academy Warrington, is delighted about Aiden being offered this highly competitive scholarship, describing it as “fantastic news.” She explains how much this offer means to Aiden, saying:
“This is a really huge achievement for Aiden, who has been working towards this for several years.” King’s Leadership Academy Warrington is extremely proud of Aiden’s achievement and looks forward to working closely with Wigan Warriors to ensure his future success.
