In April this year, Sam Lawrence, Assistant Vice Principal at King’s Leadership Academy Warrington ran the Manchester Marathon in an impressive 3 hours and 55 minutes. Running a marathon in under 4 hours is a significant achievement and grants her membership in the prestigious ‘Sub-4 Society.’
Sam shared, “I’ve chased this goal for so long. Ever since I read after my first marathon that only 20% of women run a sub-4, I thought, ‘Well, I’m never going to win a marathon, but I wonder if I can get that?’ After achieving 4 hours and 28 minutes in the London 2023 Marathon and 4 hours and 7 minutes in the Chester Marathon, I finally did it by shaving 12 minutes off my personal best for Manchester.”
She ran alongside her husband, who also managed to complete the marathon in under 4 hours. Congratulations to both of you on this fantastic achievement!
